FAQs

Q: How do I know if Board & Train is right for my dog?
A: If your dog needs help with basic manners like leash walking, recall, or crate comfort—and you’d love a jumpstart from a certified trainer—Board & Train can be a game changer. If your dog has aggressive behavior, please click here

Q: What’s the daily routine like during a Board & Train stay?
A: Your dog will get 2–3 focused training sessions per day, structured enrichment, play breaks, rest, and lots of love. This isn’t boot camp—it’s relationship-centered learning in a real home.

Q: Will my dog’s training last after they come home?
A: Absolutely—as long as you continue the work! You’ll receive a go-home lesson, training notes, and support to help maintain their new skills.

Q: Do you provide updates while my dog is with you?
A: Yes! You’ll receive photos, videos, and progress notes so you stay in the loop and can see your pup’s growth.

Q: What should I bring for my dog’s stay?
A: We’ll send a checklist before your program begins, but basics include food, favorite treats, medications (if needed), and a crate if they have one they love.

Q: What if my dog is nervous or shy?
A: We welcome dogs with mild anxiety or fear—as long as they are safe around people and dogs. We take a slow, gentle approach to help them feel at home.

Q: Do you use shock collars, prong collars, or other aversive tools?
A: No. We use only science-backed, humane training methods based in positive reinforcement. Research shows aversives can increase fear and anxiety and often suppress behavior without addressing the root cause. Our focus is on trust, not intimidation.

Q: Can you guarantee my dog’s behavior will change?
A: No ethical trainer can guarantee specific results, because dogs are living beings with unique needs and learning curves. What we do guarantee is personalized attention, a clear training plan, and ongoing support to help you and your dog succeed together.

Q: How fast will my dog learn during a Board & Train?
A: There are no shortcuts when it comes to ethical, lasting dog training. Even with intensive and personalized sessions, dogs learn at different paces based on their age, history, and individual personality. Every dog is different, and what one pup learns in a week may take another dog three. We'll meet your dog where they are, and progress will be based on their comfort and clarity—not a cookie-cutter timeline.
